Operational Service Badge awarded to: a) those who served in a combat unit for a period of at least 18 months. b) those who served at least 4 consecutive months in combat. Officially worn on the right uniform chest pocket, but often seen on the left side, below the ribbons. The badge is made of nickel, height 22 mm, width about 15 mm. The badge was first distributed during the War of Attrition (1968–1970). Policemen are permitted to wear this badge on their uniform, in case they earned it during military service. Front Combat Soldiers Badge The Front Combat Soldiers Badge is awarded to those who have served more than 12 months as a combat soldier. The rectangular badge is decorated with the traditional sword and olive leaf that characterize the IDF emblems. The badge is worn over the right pocket, in contrast to the ribbons of decorations and campaigns. Front Combat Soldier: A soldier who is trained to operate in the contact operational space to strike the enemy in maneuvering formations while risking his life. The title "Front Combat Soldier" grants additional unique and exclusive benefits to those who bear it. |
