Col. Avner Balkany, military attache of Israel in Brazil decorated with a Bronze Medal of Recognition

Colonel Avner Balkany, the military attaché of Israel in Brazil, was awarded a decoration called the "Medalha de Reconhecimento Grau Bronze" or Bronze Medal of Recognition for his actions during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, in which he, as a helicopter pilot, evacuated a wounded soldier under heavy fire. For this act, he was awarded the Israeli Medal of Distinguished Service.
