A medal commemorating the IDF commando operation in Uganda on July 4, 1976 in conjunction with the Mossad, to release hostages of Air France flight 139. In action, lieutenant colonel Jonathan Netanyahu was killed and operation Entebbe was later called operation Jonathan..

Front: A map of the eastern Mediterranean, East Africa and the Middle East showing the route of the Air France airplane (Tel Aviv - Athens - Benghazi- Entebbe in Uganda) and the route of the IDF Hercules airplane bringing the commandos to Entebbe and returning the released hostages to Israel.At the right the Entebbe airport control tower and the Mercedes car that served the Israeli commandos in the raid to surprise the terrorists.

Back: The top of the medal shows the official emblem of Israel besides the hebrew Bible verse: "For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers" (Proverbs 11:14). Beneath this a reconnaisance plane,  collecting intelligence of the area. And finally, the Hercules plane with the released hostages after landing in Israel.

Many details on the medal are to be seen like the correct registration number of the Mercedes, the number on the Hercules plane etc.
